Crispin Cioe has been playing the saxophone and composing since attending the University of Michigan, Berklee School of Music--and then doing graduate studies at frat parties, bars, nightlclubs, concert stages, arenas, stadia, and recording studios around the nation and the world. He is the co-creator of the brass and reed section The Uptown Horns and has played on hundreds of albums, performed with pop superstars, produced records, composed for film, and served as musical director for television shows and the theater. In short, his career is quintessentially New York in its breadth and scope. In fact, in 2002 he was nominated for one of the most coveted and prestigious awards in the world of American Theater -- the Drama Desk award for Best Music in a Play, for his work as Music Director of the third play in a trilogy by author Charles Mee entitled True Love. Over the past two years Crispin’s own band, Cracked Ice, has become a constantly in-demand party-music unit, performing at night clubs, corporate events, and private affairs in the metro-NYC area, New England, the Caribbean, and beyond. Cracked Ice features several of Crispin’s long-time musical compadres--all studio/touring stars on thier own--who come together to raise the bar for musical entertainment at parties and events. In the past year, Crispin has recorded with the bands Coldplay and the Scissors Sisters (debut/2nd LPs).
